Why We Established Winsome Care Ltd

The decision to establish a supported living service in Liverpool was based on a thorough analysis of local need, market opportunity, and the expertise of our founding team. Liverpool is a city with significant health inequalities, higher-than-average prevalence of learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities, and a growing population of older adults who need community-based support.

The Transforming Care Programme and the national policy direction set out in Building the Right Support (NHS England, 2015) continue to drive the relocation of people with learning disabilities and autistic people from inpatient settings into community-based supported living. Liverpool City Council's commissioning priorities emphasise the need for person-centred, flexible, and outcome-focused supported living services that promote independence and reduce reliance on residential care.

Our founders identified that, despite the presence of several established providers in the area, there remains a gap in the market for a provider that combines specialist knowledge across all six service user bands, a commitment to the REACH Standards, genuine person-centred practice, and a small enough scale to maintain the close, responsive, and relationship-based approach that larger providers can struggle to sustain. Winsome Care Ltd was founded to fill this gap, starting small, building a strong reputation, and growing organically based on demonstrated quality and positive outcomes.

Our Vision

To be a leading provider of supported living services in Liverpool and the wider Northwest, recognised for delivering outstanding, person-centred support that enables people to live fulfilling, independent, and meaningful lives in their own homes.

Our Mission

To provide high-quality, compassionate, and individualised personal care and support services that promote independence, choice, dignity, and wellbeing for every person we support. We achieve this by employing skilled, well-trained, and motivated staff; by working in genuine partnership with the people we support, their families, and external professionals; and by maintaining the highest standards of governance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

What Sets Us Apart

Specialist, Dual-Qualified Leadership

Our management team brings a rare combination of social work, mental health, psychology, and human resource management expertise. This means we can support people with complex and co-occurring needs without needing to refer out to external agencies for guidance on matters relating to the Mental Capacity Act, safeguarding, mental health, or workforce management. Our Registered Manager is a qualified social worker and Trainee AMHP, whilst our Nominated Individual is a CIPD-qualified HR professional with direct experience in CQC-regulated supported living.

Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture From Day One

We are committed to CQC's Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture framework from the very outset, not as a retrospective adjustment to existing practice, but as a foundational principle embedded in every process, policy, and staff interaction. People with learning disabilities and autistic people are supported to have maximum choice, control, and independence, with restrictive practices avoided wherever possible.

Relationship-Based, Responsive Care

Our initial scale allows for a genuinely responsive and relationship-based approach. Each person we support knows their support workers, and our support workers know each person as an individual. This relational model is central to achieving the best outcomes and will be protected as we grow, with careful attention to maintaining manageable caseloads and continuity of staffing.

Robust Quality Assurance

Our quality assurance systems go beyond minimum compliance. We operate regular unannounced spot checks, monthly medication audits, quarterly support plan reviews, quarterly health and safety audits, and annual quality reviews against all 34 CQC quality statements. The Registered Manager maintains direct involvement in care delivery through regular observations, shadowing sessions, and direct engagement with the people we support.
